Why Jay-Cyn's Creations?
The name came out of the wedding partnership of

Jay-Cyn's Creations.
Together, owners Jay and Cynthia Curley started Jay-Cyn's Creations in 1991.
What began as a business that catered to youth sports photography, has grown into the successful wedding, bridal and family portrait studio that it is today.
Jay and his wife Cynthia, have worked extremely hard in perfecting a photographic style that has pleased thousands of customers over the past decade.
They have a strong belief in providing unparalleled service using the best equipment
and techniques to provide their customers with the highest quality products and creativity in the area.
A graduate of Emerson College, in Boston, and a member of the Professional Photographers Association of America.
Jay was an apprentice photographer for five years with New Image Photography
in Raleigh, NC. He learned various lighting, posing and creative techniques which
has won him many accolades from customers and colleagues.
In a recent interview, when asked about the state of wedding photography
today this is what Jay had to say.
"With the advent of digital cameras many
people have decided to earn some extra money by getting into the wedding
photography business. Unfortunately I have heard a lot of horror stories
from couples that hired someone because they could get their wedding
photographs taken for hundreds less than a professional charges. Well
unfortunately there is no free lunch. In order to be a successful wedding
photographer you need to be educated and trained just as you would in any
field."
"Couples that choose their wedding
photographer based on price are setting themselves up for disappointment."
"The images created on your wedding day will
be some of the most important images of your life and will eventually become
family heirlooms. A good photographer should show you a multitude of images created
in a variety of settings under a plethora of different lighting conditions."
"The photographs should be well exposed
both foreground and background, the use of flash should not always be
obvious, in other words a person that trains as a pro photographer
understands how to create images without using the automatic settings in
a camera."
"By knowing how to use the light and mix the
flash with the ambient light, the photographer makes the image look natural
and much more pleasing to the eye. In addition posing and composition are a
very important part of the artistic craft of photography. People who do not
study these techniques should not be charging anyone to photograph a
wedding it is much too important an event."
"I advise all couples to probe the prospective
photographer for their wedding by asking how long they have trained and with
whom, how many years in the business and how many weddings have they
personally shot, and study closely the images, are they balanced both in
composition and color and light? Or are their hot spots on faces, are
the backgrounds black or very dark? Do they look muddy and
underexposed?"
"Equally important are they are a registered
business, pay local ,county, state and federal taxes? Do they have multiple
cameras, flashes and memory cards (You can't believe the stories I have
heard of some of these people who go out and shoot a wedding on one 2-
gigabyte card and the card gets corrupted rendering many of the images
unreadable!)"
"Also does the photographer offer a money back
guarantee? These are the things that sets the pro apart from the weekender
looking to pick up a few hundred dollars, so choose carefully."
